Big Y changes senior leadership team


SPRINGFIELD — The Board of Directors of Big Y Foods Inc. recently made several changes to the company's senior leadership team that went into effect last month.Current Chairman and CEO Donald H. D'Amour is transitioning out of his day-to-day responsibilities as CEO and will continue to serve as an advisor to the board as chairman emeritus. Charles L. D'Amour, son of company co-founder Gerald D'Amour, will remain as president and has been appointed CEO. Michael P. D'Amour, grandson of co-founder Paul D'Amour and son of Donald D'Amour, has replaced Charles D'Amour as COO, adding that title to his current duties as executive vice president.Guy W. McFarlane, Big Y's vice president of fresh foods since 2011, has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. Richard D. Bossie, Big Y's vice president of operations since 2016, has been promoted to the new position of senior vice president of operations and customer experience. Nichole D'Amour Schneider, granddaughter of co-founder Paul D'Amour and daughter of Donald D'Amour, has been promoted to the new position of vice president of supermarket operations. Big Y operates five supermarkets and two convenience stores in the Berkshires.
