The Indoor Season for the Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market kicks off 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in newly renovated Common Room of Zion Lutheran Church, 74 First St., Pittsfield. A monthly market, the indoor season runs each second Saturday of the month, November through April.

Shoppers can stock up on local meats, eggs, cheese, vegetables, baked goods, coffee, wine, art, and more. Children can enjoy Pixie Peepers Face Painting and Balloon Ben, while grown ups can enjoy free 10-minute chair massages offered by Radiance Yoga.

In addition to the market's own Double Value Program, where they match up to $15 in SNAP benefits per market day per person, there is a new statewide program called the Healthy Incentives Program or HIP. A three-year program, HIP matches SNAP purchases of local fruits and vegetables bought at participating farmers markets. Shoppers spend their SNAP dollars and have the amount of their purchase instantly added back to their EBT card. The monthly cap depends upon household size. Households of 1 to 2 can earn up to $40 per month, 3 to 5 members $60, and households with 6 or more members can earn up to $80.
