BSC slates reading of new musical

PITTSFIELD — Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab will present a reading of a new musical, "Fall Springs," 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St.

With music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos ("Pool Boy," "Into the Wild") and book and lyrics by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb ("Boom"), "Fall Springs" is set in cash-strapped Fall Springs, which sits directly on top of America's largest reserve of cosmetic essential oils. It has big dreams but at what cost? With new fracking techniques being recklessly implemented, the ground beneath Fall Springs is crumbling. Boulders, buildings, and the occasional bartender are being swallowed into the ground. And that's only the beginning.

Directed by Stephen Brackett and with music direction by Brad Gardner, "Fall Springs" features Alyse Alan Louis, Alan H. Green, Ken Marks, Ellen Harvey, Sam Heldt, John-Andrew Morrison, Cami Arboles, Noah Virgile and Doreen Montalvo.

Ticket information is available through the Barrington Stage box office at 413-236-8888 or online at
