Casting set for Barrington Stage's 10X10 New Play Festival


PITTSFIELD — 10X10 New Play Festival veterans Peggy Pharr Wilson, Keri Safran and Robert Zukerman are returning as members of the acting ensemble of the eighth annual edition of Barrington Stage Company's program of 10 new 10-minute plays. Joining Wilson, Safran and Zukerman are festival newcomers Sarah Goeke, Michael Fell and Deshawn Mitchell.

Performances begin Feb. 14 and continue through March 10 at BSC's St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St. Press opening is 3 p.m. Feb. 17.

Performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays; and 3 p.m. Sundays.

Barrington Stage founding artistic director Julianne Boyd and Matthew Penn are directing the plays. Penn is a co-artistic director of Berkshire Playwrights Lab in Great Barrington and recently directed the Off-Broadway production of Jane Anderson's "Mother of the Maid" starring Glenn Close.

The New Play Festival is part of Pittsfield's 2019 10X10 Upstreet Arts Festival, which includes music, theater, dance, film, visual art, spoken word, and comedy. The festival is a collaborative effort between Barrington Stage Company and the City of Pittsfield, coordinated through a steering committee that includes the Beacon Cinema, Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), Berkshire Museum, and Lichtenstein Center for the Arts.
