Cheshire: Hoosac Valley names senior speakers
CHESHIRE - Hoosac Valley High School has named Daniel Pompi as valedictorian and Riley Robinson as salutatorian for the Class of 2020.
Commencement exercises will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, outside on the school grounds, 125 Savoy Road.
Pompi is the son of Christopher and Jill Pompi of Adams. A member of the varsity soccer team, he served as captain during his senior year. Other school activities include the track and field team, ski club, class treasurer, and National Honor Society, serving as president during his senior year.
Pompi's awards include the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, HVHS Superintendent's Award, Williams College Book Award, and Presidential Academic Excellence Awards in Algebra II, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Spanish I.
His volunteer service has included peer mentoring, tutoring, and service at the Parish of Pope John Paul and the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, both in Adams.
Pompi will attend Williams College in the fall.
Robinson is the daughter of William and Lynne Robinson of Adams.
School activities have included varsity basketball, varsity soccer, varsity Unified Track and Field school representative, National Honor Society, class secretary, Peer Mentor Club, senior mentor, teaching assistant, Student Athletic Leadership Council, Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association ambassador, and a basketball referee and Lil' Canes mentor with the Police Athletic Association.
Robinson is the recipient of the John & Abigail Scholarship, Award of Excellence in chemistry and JAVA, Cornell University Undergraduate Award, and numerous basketball awards.
She will attend Springfield College in the fall.
