Cummington: Broadband internet signup announced

The Cummington Municipal Light Plant, working with Whip City Fiber of Westfield, is building a fiber optic network that will bring light speed internet to Cummington.

Residents and businesses have until Jan. 31, 2020, to sign up for internet service or to make their home "internet ready." Residents who have given permission for underground property access will still need to sign up for internet service or a drop.

Signup assistance will be available Saturday, Dec. 7; Wednesday, Dec. 11; Saturday, Jan. 11; and Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Bryant Free Library, 455 Berkshire Trail, during library hours. Signup and further information is also available at

The MLP plans to cover the costs of drops to all homes signing up by the deadline. Residents who have not signed up by the cutoff date will have to pay the full cost of installation including labor, materials, trucks, and crew.
