NEW LEBANON, N.Y. — Assane Sene recently joined The Darrow School as associate director of athletics, boys' basketball coach, French teacher and international student coordinator. A native of Senegal, the 7-foot-0-inch Sene originally left his home country to play basketball at South Kent School in Connecticut. A highly recruited Division 1 prospect, Sene played four years at the University of Virginia where he was the starting center, before graduating in 2012. This year five student athletes from Senegal are studying and playing basketball at Darrow. One of Sene's players at Darrow, Cheikh Sow, was chosen by the NBA Without Borders program to participate in the 6th Annual Global Camp that coincided with the NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago.
