Laugh off the work week with Dottie's and Comedy with Pete Bladel, 8 p.m., 444 North St., Pittsfield. According to Dottie's, Bladel has performed at Laughing Skull, Laugh Your Asheville off and Boston Comedy Arts Festival and has appeared on "Billy On the Street." Tickets are $15, doors open at 7 p.m.

Votre Soiree is hosting an evening of ballroom dancing at Polish Falcon Hall, with music by Champagne Jam, 7 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Find the Hall at 32 Bel Air Ave., Pittsfield.

Don't miss your last chance to see Naumkeag's beautiful Winterlights, every 30 minutes from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4,  at 5 Prospect Hill Road, Stockbridge. Admission is $17, $12 for members, and free for kids under 12.

The Friends of the Great Barrington Libraries welcome all to a screening of "The Sequel" at Mason Library, beginning with a wine and cheese social at 7 p.m. and followed by a brief community discussion. Mason Library previews, "David Fleming argues that global capitalism's need for constant consumption and growth is destroying the world... climate change will trigger what he calls the 'climacteric collapse' of large-scale societies. This unfolding collapse offers the possibility of a counter-cultural renaissance if we transition to more locally-oriented and nature-focused ways of life." The social and screening are free.


Kick off the new year with BSKE Dance Community Group's New Year's dance party at Whitney Center for the Arts, beginning with a brief beginner's salsa lesson at 8:30 p.m., and followed by an intermediate lesson with David Aloka and Isabel Burlingham at 9 p.m. With music by DJ Red Scare, until 1:30 a.m. There's a $10 cover at the door. Impress at trivia night at the Lion's Den at Red Lion Inn, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., 30 Main St., Stockbridge.
