Defending champion Lenox opens Western Mass. D-IV boys soccer tournament with win over Smith Academy

LENOX — The Lenox boys soccer team opened its Western Massachusetts Division IV playoff run with a 4-0 win over Smith Academy in the quarterfinals.

With the win, the defending D-IV champion sets up a date against Mount Everett in the semifinals today at Wahconah. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. Lenox is 2-0 this season against Mount Everett.

On Wednesday, Keveen Delgado scored a pair of goals, bookending the team's scoring by striking first in the 18th minute, then capping the scoring in the 78th minute.

Mateo Phillips scored on a pass from Brendan Sullivan in the 39th minute to put Lenox up 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Zach Suffish scored on a pass from Phillips in the 64th minute before Delgado rounded out the scoring.

Jacob Munch made just one save to get the clean sheet.
