Destination Williamstown appoints director


WILLIAMSTOWN — Berkshire writer Kate Abbott has been appointed director of Destination Williamstown, the organization has announced. She will lead the content and growth of Williamstown's digital presence for arts, events and all things interesting in and around Northern Berkshire. She replaces outgoing Destination Willliamstown Curator Sandra Thomas, who left to head Marty's Local, a local food distribution company. Abbott, who lives in Williamstown, writes stories and weekly calendars for regional publications and her own media website A Williams College graduate, Abbott holds an MFA from the University of New Hampshire. She spent almost eight years as editor of Berkshires Week & Shires of Vermont, running a weekly arts and community magazine at the Berkshire Eagle and a weekly column exploring highlights and back roads.Destination Williamstown is a locally designed, locally built, and locally curated website that launched in June 2014 with financial support from community leaders. In 2015, was designated the official website of the Williamstown Cultural District and was nominated for prestigious Addy Award from the American Advertising Federation.
