After a few days on the run, a loose emu sauntered home on Wednesday.

The animal, first reported missing from its Adams home on Sunday, did not suffer any serious injuries, according to North Adams Animal Control Officer Carrie Loholdt.

The emu had evaded efforts by animal control officers to capture and return it to its home. It was spotted in the area of Church Street and Ashland Street in North Adams on Tuesday afternoon, but avoided apprehension. On Wednesday, the animal returned home on its own accord.
