BENNINGTON, Vt. — Dr. Amy E. Freeth has joined Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians. She has resumed endocrinology services at SVMC Endocrinology, which is a part of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Southwestern Vermont Health Care. It replaces the Bennington Osteoporosis Center, where Dr. David Gorson had provided similar services to the community until his retirement in 2019.

Freeth worked in the endocrinology department at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, N.Y. from 2004-2019 and as the medical director of the Diabetes Management Program from 2010-2017. She is board certified by both the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She received her medical degree from State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse. Freeth completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of Vermont, then known as Fletcher Allen Healthcare. She also completed a residency in internal medicine at Bassett Healthcare, which is a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, where she served as chief resident in 2002.
