Great Barrington: Watson Fund sets fundraising goal

With hopes of raising $26,000 for South Berkshire families in need, the 81st annual John S. Watson Christmas Fund is now accepting donations at all Berkshire Bank South County offices.

Founded in 1936 by local newsman John S. Watson, the fund has grown to serve 879 people with food and clothing certificates in 2016.

Both clothing and food certificates are mailed out in December to accommodate families' needs in time for the Christmas holiday.

Applications will be accepted at CHP Family Services, 442 Stockbridge Road, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 7 and 8.

Donations to the fund can be made through any Berkshire Bank office. Checks should be payable to the Watson Fund. Those wishing to make their donations "in memory of" or "in lieu of holiday cards" can include their requests with their check and those wishes will be published in local newspapers and on WSBS radio.
