Hillsdale, N.Y.: Area libraries announce youth programming

Roeliff Jansen Community, NorthEast-Millerton, Scoville, Valatie, Pine Plains, and Livingston libraries are teaming up to bring kids and teens a summer full of fun and educational activities.

Summer Reading kicks off Monday, June 29. The program will use READsquared, an app/service where kids can log their reading progress and win prizes. Visit roejanlibraryny03.readsquared.com get started.

Virtual storytime hours will be offered by RoeJan at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays on Zoom, Northeast Millerton at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays on Facebook, and Scoville at 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays on Zoom.

Additional programs include Minecraft on PC at 7 p.m. Fridays; Dungeons & Dragons sessions on Discord at 1 p.m. Saturdays beginning June 27; "The Craft of Comedy," a six week humor workshop for teens and pre-teens, at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning July 2; and Science Tellers, a sci-fi video story, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23.

"Storycrafters: Just Imagine" will be available online for 12 hours on Wednesday, July 1, for patrons of Roe Jan, Valatie, Livingston, and Millerton Libraries. Streaming links will be provided on each library's website.

Traditional Okinawan Karate is hosting a virtual karate class for kids ages 6-11 at 3 p.m. Wednesdays, July 8 through Aug. 5. Space is limited. Register at tinyurl.com/y93d6m38.
