Recipe for success: When I want to treat my girlfriend to a nice breakfast in Pittsfield, there is only one spot in the city I consistently take her, and that is Otto's Kitchen & Comfort.
I've lived in Berkshire County for almost 20 years, and I can confidently say that Otto's Kitchen & Comfort is one of the best restaurants in the county that focuses specifically on breakfast. Their formula is a simple one, for the most part offering classic breakfast items done well, such as eggs (as desired), bacon, ham, sausage, cheesy grits, toast, home fries, pancakes, French toast, waffles, and more. They do offer lunch items, such as burgers and sandwiches, but their breakfast is where they really shine.
What we can't get enough of: My girlfriend and I have been to Otto's multiple times, and like Grazie in North Adams, it's a place we go for special occasions, and for good reason. Our favorite dishes to get are their Chicken and Waffles ($12), and their two eggs, bacon, ham or sausage & toast meal ($8.75), though we've also greatly enjoyed their stuffed French toast with sweet cream cheese and strawberries ($10) and we liked their Vermonter Wrap ($11) on the lunch side, though, I do admit that they have a stronger breakfast menu.
The great thing about Otto's breakfast menu is that it's grounded enough to the extent that new customers will be able to easily enjoy a classic meal they love, while expansive enough for regulars to experiment and try something new. Their specials also help keep things fresh and interesting, which are posted on a chalkboard in the restaurant and via Otto's Facebook page. In the past, they've offered items such as $12 breakfast nachos, a $12.50 meal of a cheddar-bacon waffle smothered with sweet Vidalia onions, two eggs and a country fried steak, and $7.95 cinnamon swirl pancakes with cream cheese frosting, so they're definitely worth keeping up with.
If you're hungry and want to start your morning off right, there's no better place to do so than Otto's.
