Lanesborough voters take up marijuana sales bylaw

LANESBOROUGH — Special town meeting voters Tuesday night will decide where best to site medical and recreational marijuana facilities. The zoning bylaw proposal allows, by right, for pot shops along the Route 7 and Route 8 business corridors, Berkshire Mall area and industrial zones.

A Planning Board special permit would be needed for marijuana stores in the limited business zone along Main Street. The board would have site plan approval overall new or refurbished buildings used for retail and/or medical marijuana sales.

The other article on the warrant calls for using $40,000 in surplus funds to buy a mowing tractor and related equipment.

The special town meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Lanesborough Elementary School at 188 Summer St.
