Pittsfield Green Drinks

Posted by elizabeth@thebeatnews.org

Join Urban Foresters Jay Girard and Yoni Glogower from the Pittsfield Greening the Gateway Cities Program - a free tree planting program for Pittsfield residents.

We start gathering at 5:15 p.m. and our guests will talk for about 30 minutes starting at 6 p.m. Find us in the back room at J. Allen's Clubhouse Grille at 41 North St., Pittsfield.

Jay and Yoni will talk about i-Tree, a suite of applications designed to calculate canopy cover and associated tree benefits. Come and learn about how it all works, including how to calculate the value of trees on your own property!

Yoni Glogower is an urban forester for the DCR in Pittsfield. A graduate of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, he loves everything related to trees, community, and the fiber arts. Jay Girard has worked in arboriculture for over 40 years. Before joining the Department of Conservation & Recreation, Jay worked as Landscape Manager at the Smith College Botanic Garden.

Each month a guest speaker talks for about 20 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be followed by discussion and Q-and-A. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring your questions!

What is Green Drinks? Green Drinks is an international forum where people who work in the environmental field meet for a beer and snacks at informal sessions. There will be a lively mix of people from Non-profit organizations, academia, government and business. Green Drinks is a great way of catching up with people you know and for making new contacts. These networking events are very simple and unstructured. Come along and you’ll be made welcome.
