Lee man critical after NY crash

COPAKE, N.Y. — A Berkshire County man is in critical condition after being thrown from his vehicle Saturday following a one-car crash in Columbia County.

Ian Caden, 26, of Lee, was driving north on Route 22 in Copake, N.Y., shortly before 7:45 p.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane and hit a guard rail, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle, a 2008 Saab, went airborne after striking the guard rail and landed in the nearby Roe Jan creek. Caden was ejected from the car; there were no passengers.

Caden was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he is being treated for back, spine and head injuries, deputies said Monday.

The accident remains under investigation.
