Letter: Alternative ways of getting equipment
To the editor:
We are reading with interest and concern about the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health care staff at Berkshire Medical Center. However, we want to remind the reader that there are other, albeit smaller, health care facilities in Berkshire County.
For example, our providers at East-Elm Pediatrics — and many other independent medical practices in the county — are exposed to viral and other pathogens on a daily basis. Due to the selfless generosity of first responders within a state agency we were able to procure six N-95 respirators for our office. This now allows half of our staff to have their own, personal N-95 mask, which they will reuse, hour after hour, day after day, week after week.
