Letter: County Court requests better plowing

To the editor:

I live on County Court here in Pittsfield and have to say the snow removal is poor, along with road maintenance. One homeowner paid out of his pocket to fix potholes after a dozen or more calls to the DPW. Plowing does happen but two to three days after the storm and many calls to complain from County Court residents go to voicemail and go unanswered. Numerous calls to the mayor's office go without a reply. This has been going on for the past 15 years that I have lived here and do not see any progress in the future. I can't speak for everyone who lives here but the consensus is the same; don't hold your breath.

We have been lucky to have a kind neighbor who owns a plow and has done the street on his own time and expense so those residents who have to leave early in the morning to go to work could get there. With the amount of taxes that we pay the city of Pittsfield, we shouldn't have to wait two to three days for the street to be plowed or expect one of the street's occupants to do it. Let us see if the mayor fixes the problem or ignores it. Time will tell.

Ron Gerber,
