Letter: Eagle spirit on display at parade

Posted

To the editor,

With so many newspaper casualties, most recently, The Vindicator of Youngstown, Ohio, slated to close on August 31 after 150 years of publishing, community journalism has been going the way of the Underwood 5 typewriter.

But not in the Berkshires.

An enthusiastic team of staff and friends of The Berkshire Eagle stepped up their personal outreach at Pittsfield's July 4 parade by handing out special holiday editions, exchanging shout-outs with cheering onlookers and fueling genuine community spirit. Well done!

Thanks to the people behind the headlines, photos, advertisements, press runs and home deliveries who are preserving community journalism as a Berkshire staple.

This truly is EXTRA, EXTRA.

Linda Dulye,

Lanesborough
