Letter: Fond memories of Jim's House of Shoes

To the editor:

I read with sadness the closing of Jim's House of Shoes ("A few final steps remain before longtime Pittsfield shoe store closes," Eagle, Nov. 28).

Things come and go throughout our lives, but Jim's was one of those very few constants I will always remember with fondness. Having spent my early years in Lenox Dale, my mother always made the trip to Jim's on Tyler Street for shoes and some clothes and also Robert Hall's on Dalton Avenue. Even now when I visit back home in the summer, I stop in for a pair of sandals.

I wish Mr. Abecassis all the best in his retirement. You will be missed.

Donna McClelland,

Leesburg, Fla.
