Letter: Great Barr. can do better than horse racing
To the editor:
Horse racing in Great Barrington will increase tax revenues, but it will also increase costs as more money will be required for police officers in order to maintain traffic control.
Horse racing is an inhumane "sport." Several hundred race horses die each year. Maybe they don't always "love to run."
Why not have a pavilion and playground or a dog park, with basic infrastructure for a flea market or craft fair? The possibilities are endless. Great Barrington does not need horse racing.
Finally, I would not go to any establishment where hundreds of employees die each year after being forced to work.
