Letter: Hospitality industry forced to compete

Posted
To the editor:

The current controversy regarding short term rentals vs. the hospitality community is the same as the transportation industry vs Uber and Lyft and the Transportation Network Community. The same issues appear, which consist of unfair competition, safety, insurance or lack of thereof, etc.

So those of you who are invested in the hospitality industry should be careful not to support TNCs as that would for sure be sanctimonious. On the other hand, these "unfair" industry practices came about because consumers are always looking for a less expensive option and now they have it. So stop complaining and go forward with skillful, competitive options.
