Letter: Is Trump serving US or Israel?

To the editor:

Benjamin Netanyahu publicly praised President Trump for assassinating Iranian General Soleimani for two reasons. First, Israel considers assassination to be a legitimate form of warfare and has executed over 800 targeted killing operations since its founding in 1948, according to a recent book by Ronen Bergman titled, "Rise and Kill First."

Second, Israel has long wanted the United States to destroy Iran, and Netanyahu understands that assassinating General Soleimani could lead to an all-out war against Iran. The problem with this, of course, is who is formulating our foreign policy — the United States or Israel?

Allan Gehring,
