It all comes together on restored Common

To the editor:

The perfect family night is closer than you think. Perfect? Try: inexpensive, hassle-free parking, highest quality setting and entertainment, and summer comfort food on the cheap.

So describes our evening Thursday at the Pittsfield Common. Our seven- year-old dashed and splashed at the fountain park, then climbed all over a great playground. We changed in the clean restrooms and walked over to King Kone for superior soft serve served with a smile and priced for a family to enjoy.

We then sat down to a spectacularly engaging and no-charge production of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." This is theater that refreshes and broadcasts a timeless tale of love and loss that even my seven-year-old appreciated.

The performance, the Common, the evening made us proud of Pittsfield and the numerous people who converged to make it possible. We strongly encourage you to get out and enjoy this great setting and exceptionally well executed and free performance while it lasts.
