Letter: Lenient judge fails police, city
To the editor:
Quite disappointing that a man can run away from the police at high speed a three in the morning, with liquor and a gun in his car, plow into a church yard and destroy a valuable historic fence, then be released on his own recognizance! Man arrested on weapons, OUI charges after shots fired in Pittsfield, Eagle, Sept. 4. What is wrong with the judge?
All of our actions have consequences. If he was going to release him, the very least the judge could have done is tell him go to the pastor and apologize, pick up the many small pieces of his car scattered around the St. Joseph Church yard, and clean the large spill of gasoline from the church sidewalk.
The police did their job. Once again the court fails in impressing any inkling of moral responsibility on the defendant. Very sad.
