To the editor:

Citizens expect their town government to ensure the well being of publicly used infrastructure. This involves regular oversight and proactive maintenance. Great Barrington has failed its citizens with the closure of the Division Street bridge, resulting in indefinite inconvenience for many.

Clearly, Sean VanDeusen, as the director of Great Barrington's Department of Public Works, is part of the problem. Mr. VanDeusen says, "We don't want to rush in and make a mistake." Might I point out the mistake has already been made and that urgency is required to rectify it?
