Letter: Museum has obligation to its own history

To the editor:

The Berkshire Museum should build its art and science museum elsewhere, like at the William Stanley Business Park where there is parking. I'm sure the people of Pittsfield can find wonderful things to do with the current Berkshire Museum site.

The people of Berkshire County, and Pittsfield in particular, have experienced so much loss to destruction of historic sites over the years. For me, "historic" is not just exterior; rather, it's the embodiment of an entire building. The museum's Zenas Crane Room and The Little Cinema are integral. The Berkshire Museum history must be protected.

Barbara Arpante,
