Letter: Need brought home for End of Life option

To the editor:

Having recently dealt with a very serious cancer, one of my major concerns was the impact of the illness on my family. I could not imagine the thought of not having any control over bringing closure to my life if my suffering became unbearable and there was no hope for recovery.

The "End of Life Options Act," which is presently before the Massachusetts legislature, has many safeguards so that it is applied appropriately. The legislation does not mandate anything; it just provides an option which allows one to bring closure to his/her life.

I encourage people to contact family and friends who live in Massachusetts to encourage their state legislators to support this important legislation.

David Rempell,
