Letter: Nunes 'blockbuster' an embarrassment

To the editor:

The Nunes memo had P.T. Barnum for a P.R. man and a group of unelected school children for authors. It puts the lie to the very expression "House Intelligence Committee." How can any Republican who takes the trouble to read this "blockbuster" not be embarrassed by it and its transparently devious purpose?

Disinformation only works when it is at least marginally credible.

And what has become of the Democrats' response since the committee finally voted to release it? Will Trump block the release or just ignore the whole thing and hope it goes away? Or is it already lost in the insanity of one-hour news cycles and voters' short attention spans?

To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt, when they call the roll in the House, Republicans don't know whether to answer "present" or "not guilty."
