Letter: Pittsfield parking punishes jurors

To the editor:

It's pretty sad that people are forced into doing jury duty in the city of Pittsfield and then get stuck with a parking ticket! It is unacceptable to have the closest free parking a half mile away. It is also unacceptable for anyone to have to do so in bad weather and even more so for a female to have to do this alone!

Pittsfield obviously thinks this is OK because it doesn't take care of parking tickets for those people who are forced to serve the city. Jury duty for a lot of people is very stressful and to add having to worry about getting a parking ticket or having to walk alone or in bad weather is a very serious issue and needs to be addressed.
