Letter: Praise for BMC's winning team

To the editor:

I am the department director of 3 East Orthopedics and 3 East Surgical at Berkshire Medical Center. In celebration of National Hospital Week, I'd like to thank my whole team for the extraordinary care that they provide to our community.

It takes a village, or rather a well-oiled machine, to deliver such incredible care. This team is known as the multidisciplinary team here at BMC. On 3 East, our team consists of dedicated people and is made up of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, unit coordinators, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, case manager, housekeepers, and is supported by a host of other departments, such as: the lab, x-ray, dietary, supplies, linen, security, and engineering. Every discipline works to ensure that our patients get the care they need and have a safe and supportive stay here at BMC.

Our team provides top notch care that has been recognized by our governing bodies for the great patient outcomes. While recognition and awards are nice, what motivates this team the most is that they truly care about their patients and helping them get better. That's the true triumph, seeing someone come in on a stretcher and walk out of here. Every day I see our team working together to make our patients stay easier, giving test and treatments, giving support and showing kindness, all in an effort to get that patient better and back home.

I am truly proud to be on the same team as these dedicated professionals that are here every day for our community. They have earned my respect and gratitude for the hard work, dedication, and compassion they show our patients. For that I'd like to send a sincere "thank you" to each and every one of them.
