Letter: Rainbow bridge for dogs, humans
To the editor:
Thank you, Ruth Bass, for your Thanksgiving week memoir of your Tracer ("On Thanksgiving, 'thank you' carries more meaning," Nov. 25). I wept as I read it, and I wondered if you knew about the rainbow bridge. My vet gave me this story when my Wilson passed on recently, and it gives me such comfort. I will share it here.
"Just this side of Heaven there is a bridge of rainbows, and a large open field where many many dogs are playing. There's food and water for them, and plenty of tennis balls. Every once in a while a dog will leave the pack and join his person when they appear in sight. Together, person and dog then go over the rainbow bridge together."
I have no doubt this is true.
