To the editor:

I was very sad to hear that Peter Rockwell had died.

Years back, when some of us who worked at the Norman Rockwell Museum got to know Peter, he was was creating his sculptures on the grounds of the new museum. I was fascinated by how he created "living things" out of stone.

We got to know him quite well, his intelligence and his sense of fun and humor. At a get-together, I brought three small paintings that I had done and was curious to get his take on them — just for fun.

He liked one of them. It still hangs in my studio today.

Elna Nugent,
