Letter: Return Chabon to Stockbridge board

To the editor:

Don Chabon is the only Stockbridge Select Board candidate with experience and expertise in town government, having served as selectman for three years and as chairman for two. He brought to the office his prior experience as a two-term member of the Planning Board and six years as chairman of the Stockbridge Democratic Town Committee.

Don encourages residents to express their opinions and concerns. He has responded by taking positive actions and pursuing new initiatives such as the PILOT program, the Economic Development Task Force, the traffic study and the cyanobacteria prevention working group, to name a few. He has worked hard to develop a strong collegial working relationship with the other selectmen in dealing with extremely difficult town issues. Most recently he showed great courage and knowledge when he had the unenviable task of having to sit in judgment of the third member of the Select Board after a thorough investigation of a highly controversial issue surrounding fiscal mismanagement.

All towns face challenging issues which is why honesty, openness, experience, expertise, a willingness to negotiate and continuity in the office are important considerations when you cast your vote. Vote to re-elect Don Chabon to the Stockbridge Select Board. Vote for the only experienced candidate. Don gets it done!

To hear from Don and other candidates for Select Board and Planning Board, watch the candidates forum on CTSB-TV at ctsbtv.org.

Anita Schwerner,

The writer chairs the Stockbridge Democratic Town Committee.
