Letter: Scare tactics on climate change

To the editor:

Franklin Delano Roosevelt said "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Well, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez certainly instilled a great deal of fear in children when she said that we have only 12 more years to live on planet Earth because of global warming. I think that AOC believes that unless we pass her Green New Deal that in 12 years all 7 1/2 billion people will die. So, of course, I can understand the fear of a 14-year-old, for example, who will only live to the age of 26.

Well, I do hope that all the students who protest against climate change will walk the walk by riding a bike to school instead of taking the school bus. I do not own a car and one can see me riding a mountain bike each day of the year.

I have two books that I suggest high school students read. "Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don't Want You To Know," by Patrick J. Michaels and Robert C. Balling Jr." is one, and "The False Promise of Green Energy," by Andrew P. Morris, William T. Bogart, Roger E. Meiners and Andrew Dorchak is the other.

Damon Fleischer,
