Letter: Senator should apologize to adult day centers

To the editor:

In a war of words with President Trump, Republican Sen. Bob Corker commented, "It's a shame that the White House has become an adult day care center." The senator should be embarrassed by his ignorance regarding human services organizations and for referencing adult day centers in such a derogatory and insulting context.

Adult day centers provide a variety of services that encourage the independence of older and disabled adults and provide a respite for their families and caregivers. Their commitment to improving quality of living is something that the current administration and Congress do not have. Shame on you, Sen. Corker. Apology requested.
