Letter: Server's kindness speaks well of county

To the editor:

My wife and I went to the Tangier Cafe for dinner before the Natalie Merchant concert at the Mahaiwe last Tuesday night in Great Barrington. After dinner, while waiting in the foyer at the Mahaiwe, I heard someone calling my name into the waiting crowd. I turned around and saw our server from the Tangier Cafe. She was breathless from running the two blocks from the restaurant to return the credit card I had left on the table!

For this tour, Natalie Merchant wanted to avoid big cities and chose instead to experience small towns in the Northeast. She picked the right town when choosing Great Barrington.

To the server, whose name I don't remember, what you did is a reminder of why we live in the Berkshires. Thank you.

David Leslie,
