Letter: Shameful coverage of cruel rodeo

To the editor:

How insensitive, sad and downright offensive to read of the rodeo at the Adams Agricultural Fair (Eagle, August 6). The reason horses buck is because of a painful strap cruelly cinched around their abdomens. They buck attempting to rid themselves of the torment.

For the reporter to include such comments as "man against beast" (Really? A domesticated horse?) and worse, "I want to see them men kicking those cows" (Cows are not for kicking. No animal is.), and for The Eagle to put such cruel comments on the front page, no less, is nothing short of reprehensible. Shame on you.

Nancy Sommer,
