Letter: Support study of Pittsfield train link

To the editor:

The Train Campaign, a nonprofit advocating for the revivification of passenger rail service to Berkshire County since 2011, is asking for your help. A proposed bill with huge importance for the future of Berkshire County calls for a holistic study of the economic and environmental impacts of bringing passenger train service back to Pittsfield, from both Boston and New York.

The deadline to file this legislation is Friday. I am asking all those who support rail connectivity and accessibility and its significance as a catalyst for economic vitality and social equity bridging the urban rural transect to contact our legislative delegation. The links can be found at thetraincampaign.org. The full text of the proposed bill can found there also.

Politicians live by and have fealty to one very profound axiom. When they feel the heat, they see the light.

James Mullen,

New Marlborough
