To the editor:

For may years the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program has provided free tax preparation services to low and moderate income seniors and others. Last year in Berkshire County more than 1,000 taxpayers were able to take advantage of this service.

For the 2020 tax season, the Tax-Aide team will experience a staffing decrease and may not be able to service as many seniors as in the past. Tax-Aide is seeking new volunteers to keep and grow free tax services in Berkshire County. Information meetings for those interested in becoming volunteers will be held this week at the following times/locations:

Mary Spitzer Senior Center, 116 Ashland Street, North Adams, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Lee Council on Aging, 21 Crossway Street, Lee, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ron Terry,

The writer is AARP Tax-Aide District Coordinator.
