Letter: Ward 2 will benefit from Guiel's youth and smarts

To the editor:

Dina Guiel has shown herself to be a dedicated and connected candidate for Pittsfield's City Council, and I am happy to support her campaign. I will be voting for her in Ward 2 this Tuesday because I believe that now is the right time for someone with her ideas and attitude to take on a leadership role in Pittsfield.

She has taken the time to get acquainted with initiatives in her prospective ward, including the Tyler Street Better Block, the Morningside Initiative and the Morningside Neighborhood Watch, to name a few. I agree with her stance on the need for improved transportation service in the region, as well as her progressive view on modern urban planning, specifically concerning development of the William Stanley Business Park.

With this being my first election in Pittsfield after returning from my time at college, I am excited to see the enthusiasm and youth in the City Council candidacies, with Dina among them. As Pittsfield continues to find its place in the post-industrial landscape of the 21st century, I am confident that Dina would be a thoughtful and respectable force in Pittsfield's leadership.

Nicholas Russo,
