Letter: White House was right to oust Vindman

To the editor:

I hear that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is scheduled to go to the Army War College to be trained for higher rank. Maybe he should go to boot camp instead and learn the soldier's duty to follow orders.

If he disagreed with the president, the honorable thing to do would be to resign and keep his mouth shut. It is the president who determines foreign policy, not some low-ranking soldier, in spite of Vindman's flamboyant uniform that reminded me of a Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera character.

Members of the National Security Council (NSC) serve "at the pleasure" of the president. The president was not pleased.

In a restaurant a waiter who spits in the soup won't last long if the boss finds out.

Ed Dartford,
