BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Health Care will be holding a free paid training opportunity in January for those interested in becoming licensed nursing assistants. The application deadline is Dec. 9. Program entrants agree to a 1-year contract, receive free training, and earn the starting hourly rate while they train.

Those who are interested apply and are hired at SVHC in the care assistant role. From there, they may be considered for a slot in the class and are provided with time off to complete the 3-week training and study for the state licensing exam. The course will take place from Jan. 13 to Jan. 31. The state licensing exam is Feb. 14. To apply, go to the "current openings" link at svhealthcare.org/careers and search for "care assistant."
