Lowell middle school evacuated after dozens of students fall ill


LOWELL >> A Massachusetts middle school has been evacuated after dozens of students reported feeling ill and several were taken to the hospital.

The students at Sullivan Middle School in Lowell were evacuated from the building to another nearby school at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

A doctor was made available.

The superintendent's office said "a small number" of students were experiencing nausea or mild respiratory symptoms. New England Cable News says 60 students reported feeling sick and five were taken to a hospital.

What caused the illnesses remains under investigation.
