NORTH ADAMS — One person was injured Tuesday night in a shooting on River Street.

The shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m. between North Holden Street and Freeman Avenue, according to North Adams Police Chief Jason Wood. The victim was shot in the neck and airlifted to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Wood said the victim was unconscious when first responders arrived at the scene.

Police say they are looking for a single shooter, but they are unsure if the event was a random drive-by or of another nature. Wood said there were very limited witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing.
