Man with knife arrested in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD — City police arrested a man Wednesday on Dewey Avenue after he brandished a knife.
Officers with the Pittsfield Police Department reported to the scene at 1:13 p.m. and attempted first to arrest Billie Joe Twing, 39, of Pittsfield, on a warrant.
"Twing armed himself with a knife and made threats to harm himself," according to Pittsfield Police Lt. Thomas Dawley.
More officers arrived to help, Dawley said, and they ultimately used a taser to disarm and arrest him. Twing was treated at the station for minor injuries and is being held without bail.
No officers were injured, Dawley said.
The original warrant charge was for violations of pretrial conditions of release, according to Lt. Jeffrey Bradford. Officers brought no additional charges against Twing following the incident.
