Berkshire Hills Country Club member Mark Chylinski shot a 5-over par 76 at Framingham Country Club on Thursday to maintain a share of third place after two rounds in the Lowery Division (Senior division) of the 54th annual Ouimet Memorial Golf Tournament.

Chylinski, who was in third place after an opening 72, trails Massachusetts amateur golfing legend Frank Vana Jr. by seven shots but is only one shot out of second place heading into Friday's final round.

Vana, a nine-time MassGolf Payer of the Year, shot a 2-over par 73 on Thursday but his opening 65 gave him a cushion he was able to maintain despite not being as sharp as he was on Wednesday.

Woodland Golf Club's Jim DiBiase is in second place at 147 after a 73 in the second round. He may have a bit of an edge in the battle for the runner-up spot considering today's final round will be played at Woodland.

"I have never played Woodland before, so that kind of forces you to play one shot at a time," Chylinski said.

John McNeil is tied with Chylinski for third place. He has had rounds of 73 and 75.

Former Williams College golfer Sam Goldenring, who finished in a tie for 12th place in last week's New Jersey Open, shot an impressive 4-under 67 at famed Beth Page Black to finish second in the medal-play qualifying portion of the Met Amateur Championship on Thursday.

The bogey-free round gives the 2019 NCAA Division III individual champion the second seed in the 16-player match-play field. He will play 14th seed Jack Well, who shot a 72 in the qualifier.

Goldenring finished three shots behind medalist Sam Bernstein.
