Mass. DPH virus update: County cases down to 578; no COVID-19 patients in either Berkshire hospital

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reduced its Berkshire County case by one on Tuesday, with a revised total of 578, the state announced this afternoon.

On Monday, the latest data available, there were no hospitalized patients with the coronavirus at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield or Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.

In Berkshire County, there have been 578  positive coronvirus cases to date, the figure reduced from 579 on Monday. There have been 42 total COVID-19 deaths in the county, a number that's held since Friday.

The commonwealth announced 18 new deaths Tuesday, with the statewide total now 7,665. 

The DPH reported 195 new positive test cases statewide, for a new total of 105,885 since the pandemic began.

Across the U.S., 116,140 have died from COVID-19, and 2,104,346 have tested positive for the virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
